About the Lithia Artisans Market
Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland (LAMA) is a collective of regional artists and craftspeople from Southern Oregon and Northern California exhibiting and selling their own work. This festive open-air market runs weekends from early April through mid November, Saturdays from 10 - 6; Sundays from 11 - 5.
Located on Calle Guanajuato along Ashland Creek, this picturesque venue is the perfect spot for artisans to exhibit and sell fine art and quality handcrafted work and interact directly with the public. Calle Guanajuato is a quaint alley located behind Ashland’s downtown plaza between Winburn Way and North Main. It is adjacent to Lithia Park and near the Oregon Shakespeare Festival theaters.
Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland was established in 1993 when the Lithia Arts Guild of Oregon formed LAMA as a distinct entity with its own Board to promote the arts in the Rogue Valley. LAMA pays an annual fee to the Ashland Parks and Recreation Department for use of the Calle.
LAMA is committed to making a difference and serving the local community here in Southern Oregon. For example, following a flood in 1997, LAMA made a significant contribution to the community with donations to help with the Ashland Creek restoration. A rug auction was held which brought in over $15,000 toward the restoration fund. During the annual Christmas Faire, on Thanksgiving weekend, a portion of the artists’ sales goes to local charities. LAMA also makes regular donations to La Formacion de la Joven Guanajuatense, an all girl orphanage, in Guanajuato, Ashland’s Sister City in Mexico.
Membership to Lithia Artisans Market of Ashland is through a jury process. There is an annual membership fee; participation involves a daily or weekend fee; plus a commission on sales is collected. For more information about LAMA membership, click here.
